Independent Aspirant Promises Water, Electricity for Kabila Ward

By CHALI MULENGA

AN independent aspiring candidate for Kabila Ward, Christopher Siyundan Malumbe, has pledged to prioritise access to clean water, electricity, bridge construction, economic empowerment and land title deeds if elected into office.

Mr Malumbe said the five areas would form the cornerstone of his development agenda aimed at improving the living standards of residents in the ward.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Malumbe said inadequate access to basic services continues to hinder socio-economic development in many parts of the ward and requires urgent intervention.

"My primary focus will be on water, electricity, bridge infrastructure, empowerment programmes and title deeds. These are critical issues affecting our people and they require immediate attention," he said.

Mr Malumbe said access to clean and safe water remains a challenge in several communities and pledged to work with relevant authorities to expand water infrastructure.

He also said electrification of underserved areas would be prioritised to support household welfare and stimulate economic activities.

The aspiring candidate noted that poor transport infrastructure, particularly the absence of reliable bridges in some areas, has negatively affected mobility and access to essential services.

Mr Malumbe further pledged to promote empowerment initiatives targeting youths, women and vulnerable groups through skills development and income-generating opportunities.

He said securing land ownership through the issuance of title deeds would also be among his priorities to enhance security of tenure and unlock economic opportunities for residents.

Apart from the five key priorities, Mr Malumbe said he would also advocate for improved road networks, construction of modern market shelters for traders, enhanced police services and the establishment of a secondary school in the ward.

He said improving roads would facilitate movement of people and goods, while modern trading facilities would create a conducive business environment for marketers.

Mr Malumbe also stressed the need to strengthen security services and expand access to secondary education to meet the needs of the growing population.

The independent aspirant said he is seeking a five-year mandate from residents to implement his development agenda.

"I only need five years to deliver on these priorities. My focus is to bring meaningful development to Kabila Ward and improve the welfare of the people," he said.

Mr Malumbe added that his political ambitions extend beyond the ward level, indicating that he intends to contest a parliamentary seat in 2031 after serving the community at ward level.

The local government elections are expected to provide voters with an opportunity to choose leaders who will spearhead development initiatives in their respective communities.
